Adeline Gilmore is a junior majoring in interdisciplinary health sciences with a concentration in health and behavior change. She is interested in the mechanisms underlying tissue injury and repair, with a focus on how physiological factors contribute to variability in patient outcomes. At Illinois, Adeline works with Matthew Hanks in the Disability and Movement Biomechanics Laboratory studying shoulder musculoskeletal health and function in manual wheelchair users and athletes to better understand injury and optimize movement. Outside the lab, she volunteers with the outreach team for Avicenna Community Health Center, helping connect underserved populations with free healthcare resources and support, and serves as secretary for the Emergency Medical Readiness Group, which examines how gaps in preventative care and health inequities impact emergency outcomes through research and outreach. At Mayo Clinic, Adeline will work with Dr. Myung Park to study blood clotting and complications after injury or surgery as she prepares for a career as a physician.
